The world premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was a stylish, star-studded event that got Marvel fans foaming – but watch fans were also foaming, as many red carpet attendees really brought the horological heat.
The 31st film in the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first of its “Phase Five” has an exceptionally heavy cast: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, David Dastmalchian, William Jackson Harper, Bill Murray…
Naturally, the A-listers brought their A game when it came to their red carpet outfits – Evangeline Lilly and Kathryn Newton looked particularly glamorous in dramatic white dresses. The guys, however, have come up with some really cool and eclectic timepieces. Here are our favorites.
Paul Rudd – Grand Seiko ‘Boshu’

First, the man of the hour himself – Paul Rudd, aka Ant-Man. Paul kept things sharp in a light houndstooth suit and tie ensemble, but upped it a bit with a Grand Seiko Elegance Boshū (Ref. SBGW287) – a true aficionado’s watch.
As Grand Seiko said, the deep burgundy red of this watch’s dial and strap was inspired by the rich autumn colors of Boshū, the sekki (season) when the trees surrounding the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi in northern Japan change color and announce that winter is fast approaching.
What we love is that it’s also the color of Ant-Man’s costume in the MCU – so Rudd gives his character a nice little nod.
Color aside, it’s a rather subtle piece: stainless steel, time-only, and hand-wound, it’s not your usual celebrity watch. Many celebrities don’t actually own the watches they wear on red carpets: they’re often just brand lenders, especially if they’re brand ambassadors. Grand Seiko doesn’t really make brand ambassadors – Rudd definitely owns this watch, and he clearly has great taste.
Randall Park – Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

Randall Park, who reprises his fan-favorite role as FBI agent Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniacontrasted a nice casual outfit with a green Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds (ref. Q397843J) rather formal and rather lovely for the red carpet.
Simply put, the Reverso is one of the most iconic watches of all time and a truly dapper choice that demonstrates that Park, like Rudd, is clearly a watchmaker. Likewise, this model keeps things classic except for its eye-catching intense green color scheme.
Mounted on a Casa Fagliano bracelet and fitted with a small seconds counter at 6 o’clock, this Reverso is the epitome of understated class.
Mario Lopez – Panerai Submersible

Actor and TV host Mario Lopez isn’t really into it Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniabut we won’t hold it against him, as we’re big fans of the classic black Panerai Submersible (ref. PAM02973) he wore to the film’s premiere.
A favorite of Hollywood stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham, the Submersible is the most dive-focused watch in the Panerai range, featuring a unidirectional synchro bezel and the famous crown lock of Panerai.
Bill Murray – Timex EasyReader

Finally, we have Bill Murray, who is in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania — as a villain, actually — who clearly doesn’t give a fuck anymore and decided to wear a cheap Timex Easy Reader 35 (Ref. T2H2819J) on the red carpet.
We’ve seen Murray wear this understated watch more than a few times. He notably carried his Timex to the 74th Cannes Film Festival for the inaugural screening of Wes Anderson. The French Dispatch… On a double wrist with a vintage Cartier Tank Solo. The man has nice watches, he doesn’t care.
