Quinta Brunson looked like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn as she arrived at the Christian Siriano Fall 2023 show, which kicked off New York Fashion Week on Thursday, February 9 at Gotham Hall. The character she portrayed was no accident; Siriano’s new collection takes inspiration from Hepburn’s 1993 “Gardens of the World” miniseries, but the aesthetic has been updated with a modern twist. Take the “Abbott Elementary School“the designer and star’s black midi dress, for example, which was truly more edgy than glamorous, with its sharp V-neckline held in place by fine, shimmering yarn. Brunson paired it with pointy-toe pumps, diamonds sparkles and pearls, plus a particularly eye-catching flower ring that mirrored the landscape: varying tones of magenta pinks that engulfed the runway and had an air of mystery.
“There are so many cool women who can wear my clothes, that’s why I love what I do.”
The 33-year-old actress rocked the mood with structural, incognito sunglasses and an angled top hat on her sleek lob, along with a glossy nude lip and spiked manicure to match. Fans may remember that Brunson wore Siriano to the 2023 Golden Globes last month, though this dress told a totally different story, with ’80s prom details like voluminous tulle and pops of pink.
Brunson isn’t the only celeb to adore Siriano’s evening looks; She seated in the front row with Lindsay Lohan, Julia Stiles, Leigh Lezark and Rosamund Pike, to name a few, all sporting various colorways featured on the catwalk.
New silhouettes seemed to flourish as the line progressed, starting with abstract prints and shapes with dramatic cutouts or slits (some models wore no pants, just tights, to keep the look emphasis on the architectural details of a top), then venture into textural masterpieces. – dresses that doubled as artistic formations and featured floor-sweeping trains in heavy satin or layers of fitted tulle. “It’s like they become something,” Siriano told POPSUGAR just before the show.
And while these dresses might seem more appropriate for the Gagas or Cardi Bs of the world on the red carpet, Siriano is more than willing to create a modest tailoring. He just dressed Vice President Kamala Harris for the State of the Union in a gorgeous cranberry pantsuit, which he raved about backstage.
