Can he actually do it? Can James Gunn complete a cohesive and emotional trilogy of superhero movies within the confines of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? He’s two-thirds of the way there and, with that last one, really moving Look Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3it looks like he can do it.
Written and directed by Gunn in what will be his final Marvel film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 follows again the adventures of the Guardians Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel), but now they also have Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff)Kraglin (Sean Gunn) and Cosmo (Maria Bakalova), in a story that involves Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and Rocket’s past. Oh, and there’s also this whole Gamora (Zoe Saldana) alternate thing since she died and came back and…just look at the latest look here.
Admittedly, this film has a lot to do, not to mention that for some actors (like Dave Bautista for example), it could be their last film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Is it because their characters die? Or will Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team be done with it? Guardians projects in the post-Gunn era? There is certainly plenty of other Marvel heroes to shop around.
Nevertheless, we look forward to seeing what Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has to offer and we will see it very, very soon. The film is released on May 5.
