Producer-director-writer Todd Phillips gave us our first look at Lady Gaga in “Joker 2,” or as it’s officially called, “Joker: Madness for Two.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Phillips wrote on instagram.
Lady Gaga will play Harley Quinn in the musical “Joker: Folie a Deux,” which will be released on October 4, 2024. Joaquin Phoenix will also co-star in the upcoming film. Phillips gave us a First look to him almost two months ago, in December.
“Joker” became one of the most successful comic book movies of 2019, not only at the box office but also in the awards circuit. The film shocked the film world by winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and was the first R-rated film to go raw. $1 billion worldwide.
Additionally, “Joker” garnered 12 Oscar nominations, with Joaquin Phoenix earning his first Oscar for his performance as struggling comedian Arthur Fleck, the movie version of The Joker.
An insider with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap that much of the “Joker” sequel takes place inside Arkham Asylum. Presumably, the plot will center around the insane romance between Doctor Harley Quinn and her patience, the joker, traditionally her character’s backstory.
