LSU star receiver Malik Nabers has been arrested and charged with carrying an illegal weapon.

The 6-foot-tall, 195-pound Nabers broke for the Tigers last season rushing for 1,017 yards on 72 receptions to go along with three touchdowns. In 2021, Nabers had 28 receptions for 417 yards and four touchdowns.

By ESPN Pete ThamelNabers was arrested Monday in New Orleans, Louisiana for carrying the illegal weapon.

Another report from gabriellla Killett and Wilson Alexander from NOLA.com said Nabers, 19, was arrested when patrol officers spotted an “L-shaped object” in his trouser pocket.

According to the NOLA.com report, Nabers told officers he did not have a license to carry the gun when questioned. Police took the gun away as evidence, the New Orleans Police Department said (per NOLA.com).

Nabers formed a dynamic receiving tandem alongside Kayshon Boutte, who declared for the NFL Draft back at the end of December. Boutte, 20, finished his senior NCAA season with 48 catches for 538 yards and two touchdowns. With Boutte set to turn pro, Nabers could play a much bigger role in the Tigers’ offense in 2022.

We’ll be sure to provide more details on the situation as they become available.
