Mortal Kombat 12 has been officially announced and it is coming very soon. It’s been a while since we’ve had a new one mortal combat game, not to mention a new one Nether Realm Studios fighting game. The studio had been alternating between Mortal Kombat and Injustice for a few years, but it looks like it will break that cycle and instead make two back-to-back Mortal Kombat games. The last Mortal Kombat game was released in 2019, and the studio has been pretty quiet about what its next game will be for quite some time, aside from vague teasing. Some hoped it would be Injustice 3some hoped it might be the Marvel vs DC legendary gamebut it looks like NetherRealm is sticking with its proven, M-rated fighter.
Mortal Kombat 12 was officially announced by Discovery of Warner Bros. on an earnings call, much to everyone’s surprise. The game has been confirmed to be coming later this year, which means we have to make an announcement any day now. It’s a little shocking to have this game confirmed on an earnings call, but it’s hard to imagine it was an accident unless the team had an announcement scheduled for this month. , but it was delayed. Either way, it’s happening and we can probably expect to hear more very soon. Neither NetherRealm nor very vocal Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon have responded to the unexpected announcement, but they will certainly have something to say about this exciting news soon.

As to when we can expect Mortal Kombat 12, it’s anyone’s guess. However, the developer tends to release its games during the first half of the year, usually in spring or summer. NetherRealm also tends to have fairly short release cycles, so if the plan is to properly reveal the game this spring, we can probably expect to be playing it by summer. At this time, we don’t have any information about the plot, gameplay changes, characters, or anything else, so we’ll have to sit back and wait for more information for now.
